Why Should Obama Be Popular with So Many Unmet Promises????

In 2008 US presidential election, people voted mostly according to the issue voting model. For instance, economy was very important for people, especially because of the financial crisis and bad economic conditions of people. Supporting one's party was not so important. Surprisingly, the Democrats succeeded to win in Indiana and Virginia although in these two states the voters had been voting for the Republicans since 1964. People in America even did not care about the color of Obama's skin.
President Obama talked about "Change". "Change Discourse" opened a new window for the Americans in non-favorable conditions of the time.
BBC World Services conducted a poll before 2008 presidential election. The poll indicated that there was a widespread optimism towards Obama and his "Change Discourse". Many people believed that his presidency would improve the relations between the US and other countries.
The result of poll also showed people were hopeful that President Obama would find a solution to current global financial crisis. Many people trusted his speeches about taxes to be lowered. They also thought Iraq War would finish.
But today, Obama's popularity has decreased among different groups of people. Taxes increased after his coming. Unemployment rate also increased. American's soldiers are still in Iraq. He did not act according to his promises. So the question is that "why he should be popular among people with so many unmet promises?????????????????"
